RAID Disk Space
This is the space available for storing your site pages, images, email and other data. Our web hosting servers use RAID arrays to store your valuable data to help:
- Protect your data from loss should a disk drive fail.
- Increases the time your site is online and visible to your visitors.
Frequent Backups
Your daya is important therefore we take frequent backups using Continuous Data Protection technology from R1Soft:
- Allows us to backup all your files and databases as frequently as once per hour.
- Fresh backups are especially important to dynamic sites where their content is always changing.
Should you then accidentally delete a file you can restore it from a recent backup via the web interface found via cPanel.
Addon and Parked Domains
- Parked domains allow you to attach unused domain names to your account e.g. domains that are common misspellings of your main domain can be attached so visitors still arrive at your site.
- Addon domains allow you to host more than one independent website on your account.
Site Statistics
You account will provide you will statics about the number of visitors to your site, the number of page views and other information. AWStats and Webalizer are available via your cPanel account.
Linux Based
All our servers are powered by the reliable Linux operating system and Apache web server. We either install RedHat Linux or CentOS on our servers both of which are enterprise grade.
Fantastico
Fantastico allows a range of scripts to be installed on your web hosting account in seconds even if you are a novice.
Bandwidth
The amount of data that can be transferred between your website and your visitors computer, the busier your site the more bandwidth you generally need. 2GB of bandwidth allows you to show 100,000 copies of a 20Kbyte web page.
MySQL & PHP
MySQL and PHP are common technologies used for building dynamic websites such as forums and e-commerce stores, all out hosting plans fully support current versions of these applications. Complex sites may require more MySQL databases than a simple site.
POP3 Accounts
Your email client running on your PC downloads email received at your domain via a POP3 account, the more accounts available the more unique email addresses you can have with their own login. Our servers also support IMAP.
Spam and Virus Scanning
Our email servers actively block spam reducing the amount of time you spend each day checking your email. Our servers also scan for Viruses, note you should still use a properly configured virus scanned on your PC.
Cron Jobs
All our plans permit the use of cron jobs, these are jobs you setup to run behind the scenes to maintain your site.
Multiple DNS Servers
We maintain multiple DNS servers located in multiple geographically diverse datacenters to provide added resilience against mail bounces and DNS look up failures. DNS look up failures can make it appear to a visitor as though your site doesn't exist rather than just not responding. A visitor is unlikely to try again if they receive a message that your site doesn't exist.
MODX CMS
MODx is an easy to use content management system (CMS) which can be preinstalled on your new web hosting account for free if you choose it during signup.
The MODx website contains a detailed description of the system and information on using and working with MODx.
