Testing The Site

Browser Compatibility Testing

There are a wide variety of web browsers in use today, with many of these browsers having quirks in them that can cause a page to display incorrectly. In the extreme a page could become unusable.

We want your site to be usable by as many people as possible no matter which browser they are using. Therefore as we build your site we keep these issues in mind and view pages under different browsers.

Once your site is complete we check it on various browsers and at different screen resolutions.

Browsers we test your site with:

  • Internet Explorer 6 and later
  • Opera 9 and later
  • Mozilla
  • FireFox
  • Safari
  • A text only browser

Screen resolutions we test at:

  • 800x600
  • 1024x768
  • 1280x1024
  • 1920x1200

Validation

Once your site is completed we validate if for conformance to the appropriate standards laid out by the World Wide Web Consortium, e.g. XHTML and CSS.

Why do we validate your site?

  • Valid pages are more likely to be displayed correctly on the wide variety of browsers that exist now and in the future.
  • It is potentially easier for tools such as search engines to read and process valid pages.
  • Pages that cannot be validated are relying on the browser to correct the error and make the page viewable. Relying on the browser to correct these errors can cause your site to display completely differently on different browsers, in the extreme pages maybe unusable.
